Java Green Peacock (Pavo muticus)
.....This slightly less resplendent cousin of the Blue Peafowl from India is found in SE Asia. Its status today is, like all the pheasants, in jeopardy from logging and loss of forest to agriculture. This male was in the Edinburgh Zoo’s collection in Scotland. As it started to rain, I had time for a head study, and then had to quit. If you look carefully, you can see where the raindrops splashed on his neck, but I liked the effect.
