Rufous Hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus)

....I found this little male in the aviary at the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson. With global warming, these birds are expanding their range northward, and are now year-round residents in Seattle. We have a resident male who claims our wild fuchsias as his territory, but because he is so feisty in defending it, we never get to see him perched.
